Hey competitors! The big weekend is fast approaching and here at TCDPS, we are so excited to see you all!
Weight Pullers
Please plan on parking in the parking lot for the Keweenaw National Historical Park Visitor Center at 98 5th St, Calumet, MI 49913 (purple). The chute (red) will be starting on the corner of Scott and 5th street. If you have a cold loving dog, we ask that you consider parking further back so our folks coming from warm climates with the short-haired canines can keep their dogs adequately warm between pulls. Sunday Pull: as we no longer need to get off the snow road by noon, registration will start at 0800, with the pull itself starting at 0900. We will not be ending the pull promptly at noon.
Mini-Mushers
Please plan to park on Portland between 4th and 5th (blue). If you park elsewhere, please avoid walking by the weight pull chute with your dog while a competing dog is in the chute. And a gentle reminder for those bringing canines – many weight pull dogs get really fired up for competitions! Please do not allow your dogs or children to interact with the weight pull dogs unless you have their handlerβs permission. We will have a limited assortment of helmets plus a wide assortment of harnesses. If you have a bike, ski or snowboard helmet, feel free to bring it.
Doing both? Bringing a big rig?
Now we know some of you are doing both events. If you are in a car, park with the other weight pullers (purple). However if you are hauling a trailer with dogs or picketing dogs, we ask that you plan to park on 5th street south of Scott or along Scott between 5th and 6th (orange).

It was so great to see so many faces – both new and old – at Northern Pines Sled Dog Race, Iron River, Wisconsin today.
We had 21 dogs enter the weight pull ranging in weight from 29 to 86 lbs.
We were super blessed to have several amazing sponsors especially Iron River Family Foods, Iron River Co-OP Hardware Hank, Poplar Foods, Racey Tasty Dog Treats and Star Dog Training for providing prizes for winners!

This Saturday for the first ever W3PO-sanctioned weight pull using wheels on carpet in Wisconsin.
We welcome beginners and experienced handlers alike in this competition to see how powerful your power pullers really are. Stay for an impromptu second match after the first match for $10. Dogs who pull 2 W3PO matches are eligible for seasonal trophies and to qualify for Summit! There will be door prizes and awards including rosettes and gift certificates courtesy of Hardware Hanks, Poplar Hardware and Iron River Foods.
Get cold? Head into the beautiful Northern Pines Golf Course Clubhouse to cuddle some puppies and kitties courtesy of Chequamegon Humane Association.

Hello Northern Pines Sled Dog Race, Iron River, Wisconsin Weight Pullers!
While we are saddened to not be able to enjoy the Northern Pines Sled Dog race this year, the weight pull is still a go! Right now I am hearing reports that conditions are borderline, but we are prepared to host a wheeled pull on carpet if conditions are not favorable for a snow pull. If we host a wheeled pull, this will be the very first W3PO sanctioned wheeled pull in Wisconsin!
In anticipation of this, we have decided to move the match to the back patio of the clubhouse. Iβve attached a map with a star where I plan to set up the chute. If you plan to set up kennels, please set them up on the sides of the building where they are not visible to dogs in the chute. I do not know what direction I will be running the chute – feel free to check in with me Saturday morning if your kennel set is dependent on the direction of the pull or if you are using your car as a kennel. If youβve previously attended Northern Pines Sled Dog Race, we will be where the mushers would normally park.
The club house will be open to us. If you go in, please welcome the volunteers from Chequamegon Humane Association, who will be hosting an adoption event inside the club house.
And one last reminder – W3PO events always accept same day registration. I will have a limited assortment of loaner harnesses available as well. So feel free to drag your friends and family! See you all soon!
